Overview
Taste Buddy was a project based on quickly finding recipes with on-hand ingredients. This project started with data research, user interviews, and persona development. I initially created a conversation journey map, sketches and wireframes.
Challenge
In the research phase, I found that people were frustrated with searching through countless recipes online. This was compounded when they would find a recipe and then discover that they don't have the ingredients on-hand.
Concept
The project started with user data sourced from "information is beautiful." The data shows complementary flavors for all kinds of food; fish, poultry, vegetables, greens, etc. The idea was to utilize this data to quickly show a user the complementary flavors for an ingredient of their choice. The user could then choose from recipes that used those chosen ingredients.
The task flow was based on my personas and the user scenario. The persona is frustrated with searching through a bunch of recipes online and not having the ingredients on-hand.
The theme for the wireframes was to have a UI that was simple to engage with. The language needed to be clear and precise so that the users could easily perform the tasks. Also, the app should have as few steps as possible to get to the recipes. This would ensure that Taste Buddy would deliver on saving the user time.
A mobile app was created to quickly give users recipes and view complementary flavors. It allows the user to choose the ingredients they have and get a recipe based on that to save time.
